Applications: Search & Rescue, Search & Recovery,
Fugitive Search...
Somewhere out in the forest; the focus of your search is hidden,
his exact position is unknown and he is motivated by only one thought…to elude
you and your team. In the past, the only way to find him was by reconnaissance
with your troops or special forces. Many times, because of the forest
environment, your operations were unsuccessful, or worse, resulted in casualties
due to unexpected aggression.
Throughout the world, everyday, this is a real life scenario. In all armed
actions there are risks. The LF-5 ™ Thermal
detection Device can help your forces maintain the upper hand in dense jungle,
forested regions, and in fact any condition in which you need to deploy
personnel.
The LF-5 ™ is an extremely accurate and
sophisticated piece of equipment. It detects even the slightest changes in
thermal signatures. By using this small hand held device in sweeping motion. The
LF-5 ™ has detected humans and other types of heat
sources at ranges of over 1000 meters in open areas and through 100 meters of
dense forest, day or night. What does this mean to you? You can detect your
opponent’s position and take necessary actions before he even knows you’re
there.
The LF-5 ™ also offers a motion detection mode.
When set in this state, The LF-5 ™ powerfully
detects any motion that comes into its field of view.

“Hit”
– The five lights shown on the right indicate the unit was just scanned across a
relatively weak heat source. A weak indication could be a strong source at a
long range, a weak source at a close range, or a good source hidden fairly
deeply in the brush.
A strong heat source would be indicated with all ten lights. This could be a
strong source that is well hidden from view behind brush.

ADJUST GAIN & SQUELCH – Push and Hold the top of the Thumb Button to go to the
Gain Adjust Mode. Release when the Cat Walk is seen. After the Cat
Walk, the lights will show the Current Gain of 1, 2, 3, 4
or 5 on the left side of the Bar Graph Display. (See picture on the Left).
Single Click the top of the Button until the desired Gain is shown then,
Double Click and the Current Squelch of 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5
is shown on the right side of the Bar Graph Display (See picture on the right).
Single click until the desired Squelch is shown then, Double Click to
return to the Scanning operations. When trying to reach long ranges, or
penetrate heavy brush, try higher Gain settings. Increase the Squelch setting to
remove excess trash hits. The FinderTM Squelch works similar to
squelch on a two-way radio to remove noise
THE FINDERTM HAS
MANY FEATURES INCLUDING:
It has the most advanced Big
and Small Game Recovery system ever built. GFI has been building Forward
Looking Infrared (FLIR) Systems for game recovery for over 15 years.
It has a Flashlight – Why buy and carry another one?
It has a Green Light to use to walk into the woods without
displaying your signature, or losing your night vision – Even if it
exists, why buy and carry another one?
It has the best Blood Tracking Light System available – It is cheaper
than a dog, easy to use, and with you when you need it. The BTLS is an
excellent blood tracking system.
It is Totally Automatic and simple to use – Just turn it on and scan for
the vast majority of applications.
It Distinguishes the Most Significant Heat Source, if one is present, and
indicates only that one.
Its Gain and Squelch adjustments allow it to be tuned for special
applications and/or users.
It Penetrates Brush to find persons hiding or incapable of signaling the
search team. In some cases those needing rescuing will hid from the
rescuers.
It has Pattern Recognition software to process the IR data and creates
Signature Revealing Audio output somewhat like a metal detector creates
different sounds for different metals.
It has our best and most advanced Hardware and Software IR Filters to
block unwanted signals.
It has a Laser Pointer.
It includes provisions for a Wrist Lanyard (Not provided) so it can be
Used Essentially Hands Free.
It includes a Pouch and an Ear Bud (For Audio operations).
NOTE: The Audio Operation Is Best. It allows you use your eyes,
mind and concentration for walking, searching, normal game recovery, and other
things while you continuously scan The FinderTM back and forth
searching all the areas around you. It notifies you with audio when a
significant heat source is scanned.
EFFECTIVE SCANNING RANGE
– Range is a function of a number of factors including: Clarity of line of
sight, ambient air temperature, humidity, wind, and scanning speed. Falling snow
and rain can block some of the infrared radiation emitted from a source from
reaching the unit. This reduces the range of the unit. Since there are a huge
number of possible conditions in which The FinderTM
could be used, its range in all conditions and environments is not known.
Maximum range is obtained in conditions that include a clear and open line of
sight to the source, a source whose temperature emitted is several degrees
different from that in the surrounding area, low humidity and no wind. In 65o
F weather, low humidity and a 5-10 mile per hour wind, normal ranges are:
500-800 yards in open range
300-400 yards under tall, mature trees with a light to moderate
under growth
50-125 yards through thick growth such as thick evergreens and cut
over fields, and corn
Please note that,
if the temperature is very cold, the range on a human will drop about 40%
because of the heavy clothes, gloves, and face masks being worn.
